Hi - My name is Tom Etter - I am the administrator for this web site - The Hanging Image. Forty years ago I turned a great hobby into a " pain in the ass " business - I love it. I am a commercial photographer, creating images of people, places, and things for annual reports, advertising, catalogs, etc. etc. - I also have built an extensive collection of images created for my own artistic satisfaction. I now enjoy reproducing and painting my images as prints on canvas to hang around the house and give to friends. I have come full circle - and am trying to turn that " pain in the ass " business back into a hobby. In the process of looking for a way to fund and make time for the creation of large canvas prints - I found some of my photographer friends also needed help to create a market for their artistic outlets. So here I am - the administrator of a new " pain in the ass " business. The learning curve is pretty steep - but I think we are getting there. The Hanging Image is a Web site where a group of talented photographic artists offer unique images (our own) to decorate the walls of your home or work environment. We realize we will not be able to fulfill your every need, but we would like to present our collection for your approval. These images are available for sale in any proportional size to fit your need. Please take a moment to examine our inventory at TheHangingImage.com . Feel free to give me a call at 614 946 5409 with any questions or comments about this site. I reside in the Columbus, Ohio USA ( central ) time zone. Here's to a prosperous 2010 !
Regards,

Digital Art
Art Decor through the Digital Eye
Once again, we anguish over gifts to give. Since I enjoy creating gifts for interior decorating, home decor is always on my mind! I try to encourage wall art because anything beautiful, moving and/or decorative ... should be on a wall! I have large photographic wall prints of different subjects, which includes a couple snowscapes, on my walls.
Alas, there is no snow, as yet. The New Englanders are wandering around wondering what to do with no snow ... other than to trek to the mountains every weekend. When the snow begins, it is so beautiful every year, albeit very cold.
However, I’ve had it brought to my attention that, without snow, how can New England’s (or any region’s) beauty still be seen? Yes, Virginia (or Virgil) ... even without snow (that frigid white stuff) the beauty is there for the photographic taking!
As with any art form, the “seeing” is everything. If something grabs your aesthetic eye, that’s what you should photograph with your digital camera. There are still oodles of Autumn leaves (check out the parks) and many bushes that have such creative geometric shapes! Play with the cropping and you’ll be so excited with the results. Also, you can create your own still-lifes ... with house plants and the dried plants. The possibilities are endless!!
Now, let’s take into consideration that your expressions of art photography aren’t as “sight pleasing” as you wanted. Hmmmmm ... what to do? Your big holiday party is only a week or so away and you need to decorate that unsightly bare spot in the living-room.
Not to worry ... that’s why you’re reading this article. All the visuals, seen in this site, are digital art photography!! Even if it was originally photographed on film, all that matters is what you see ... the beautiful images!
OK ... with this positive nudge ... don’t be timid about decorating your home with pleasing photographic art! The art is for your eye ... take the blinders off!!!
Have a Happy and Prosperous 2010 !!! |
